Bake and Ship, but How???

One of  my girlfriends just had her second baby , a beautiful little girl named Stella :) .  After the baby was born I wanted to do something nice for her and her family. I figured practicing my cake pop making and decorating would be a fun idea!  I decided I was going to make her baby rattle cake pops! I wanted the inside of the cake pops to be pink and the outside to be a darker pink. I chose to use strawberry cake mix, cheesecake frosting and vanilla chocolate melts. They came out yummy and really cute. I was proud of my rattles!

An obstacle that I have been trying to overcome is figuring out how to ship the cake pops so they will stay fresh, but at the same time stay cost effective. I browsed some other cake pop websites and they charge more for the shipping of the pops then the actually pops! It was $65 for one dozen cake pops plus shipping!!! I mean really?!! Who can afford that , and even if you could $65 is a little ridic for 12 cake pops !! Don’t you think???

When my friend received her baby rattle cake pops she told me they were a tiny bit smashed, and some of the balls fell of the stick which means they melted. :( She made it super clear that they were really good and her son could not eating them, however I couldn’t help feeling disappointed in the shipping of the cake pops. Tomorrow I am sending out four different boxes of cake pops to my friends, and trying out different methods of shipping. Stay tune i will figure it out ! :)

Please leave any advice you have for shipping baked goods! Thank you and I hope you all had a fun and safe holiday weekend. :)

  1. The reason that our shipping prices are so high in the summer months is because the only way to deliver fresh, undamaged/un-melted Cake Pops to our customers is to Overnight the orders. We DO NOT charge any handling fees, this is the amount that FedEx charges us. Unfortunately, we have to pass that cost onto our customers. We completely understand how ridiculous it sounds to pay more for shipping than for the Cake Pops, but we do have a celebrity following and high end clientele that think that our Cake Pops are worth paying the price of shipping. During the cooler season, we can ship Ground, however the longer the orders are bouncing a long the highway in a truck, the more chance of damage. The average cost to ship during the cooler months is less than $10. So please, before knocking a company for charging their customers for shipping, take time to ask them why they charge that much. Thank you for following us on Twitter and we wish you the best of luck in your Cake Pop adventures.
